Mickey Kydes Selected to Coach 2017 MLS Combine

Mickey Kydes

Beachside Academy Director Mickey Kydes has been selected by Major League Soccer to coach a team at the MLS selection Combine in Manhattan Beach California in January 6-12 2017.

The Major League Soccer Player Combine is an annual showcase, occurring every January, where future Major League Soccer players perform physical and mental tests in front of coaches, general managers, and scouts. With increasing interest in the MLS SuperDraft (which takes place on January 13) the scouting combine has grown in scope and significance, allowing personnel directors to evaluate upcoming prospects in a standardized setting.

The Player Combine features teams composed of invitees, usually who play on youth national teams or were standout players on premier college soccer teams.

Beachside Signs Contract for Beachside Soccer Park

Announcement by Club President Carl McNair following Beachside’s Club-wide meeting on Monday on September 19:

Thank you to all who were able to attend our club wide meeting last night;   it was a record crowd.

For those of you who could not attend the meeting, Below is a summary of the announcement of Beachside Soccer Park. Since this project is so critical to Beachside and its players, I wanted to provide you with details regarding the efforts of the Board to make Beachside Soccer Park a reality.

Last Friday, we entered into a Purchase and Sale Agreement to buy 11.3 acres near Independence Drive in Monroe, Connecticut.  The Agreement provides us with 120 days to complete our due diligence regarding this property, and we are already working on a title search and an environmental site assessment.  The Agreement also provides a 180 day contingency period for: (i) Beachside to confirm it has enough money to close on the land and build the Soccer Park; and (ii) the Seller to obtain all necessary approvals for fields, clubhouse, lights and parking.  Assuming all contingencies are satisfied over the next 180 days, we will purchase the land in May 2017.

We are in the early stages of planning, but this 11.3-acre parcel will include two full-sided turf fields with lights and an area for goalkeeping and small-sided training.  In addition, the complex will include a 10,000 SF clubhouse and training facility that will be used for regenerative training, yoga, strength and agility training, an internet-connected study area, meeting rooms for coaches and players, offices for support staff, coaches and club officials and a common area for parents to relax when they drop off for practice.  In addition, there will be locker rooms and facilities for both home and visiting teams….girls and boys.

As Mickey said last night, our announcement of Beachside Soccer Park will be a “game-changer” for our club.

I will be in regular communication with all of you over the next several months about this exciting opportunity for our club.  Thank you for all of your support of Beachside, and feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.

Best,

Carl McNair, President
Beachside Soccer Club

A converted penalty kick from Brandon Aubrey in stoppage time gave the University of Notre Dame men’s soccer team a 2-1 win over the Mexico Under-17 national team on Friday evening in front of 3,292 fans at Alumni Stadium.

Notre Dame went up 1-0 in the 66th minute when Farina played the ball ahead to Jon Gallagher and he dribbled to just inside the penalty box and hammered home the goal.

The match was Notre Dame’s final contest of the spring exhibition season. This marked the 10th time in the last 11 years that the Fighting Irish have played host to a Mexican national team (either U20 or U17). Notre Dame is 7-2-1 in those affairs, including three straight victories.

In the fourth minute, forward Jeffrey Farina worked his way deep into the box and fired off a shot that was deflected over the crossbar. In the 18th minute Jon Gallagher crossed the ball to Farina who had his shot from eight yards out tipped over the crossbar.
