U15 and U16 Beachside Academy Teams Argentina Trip

Beachside’s U15 and U16 Academy teams experienced the trip of a lifetime when they visited Buenos Aires, Argentina over their recent Spring Break (April 7th to April 15th). The trip was led by the Argentine-based, Futbol America Tours. During the week in Argentina, our Academy teams had the opportunity to train and play versus perennial South American power clubs Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, and Ferro Club. The teams were not only able to play against these clubs, they were also able to learn from their coaches and hear about how these South American players train and prepare for their life of soccer. In between matches and training, the Beachside teams saw the city of Buenos Aires up close and attended a South American Cup game at San Lorenzo Stadium. Our Academy teams trained in Ferro’s indoor and outdoor facility; experienced futsol training on San Lorenzo’sgrounds; and toured the majestical “La Bombonera” (Boca Juniors home stadium). A week that will never be forgotten by our Beachside U15 and U16 teams!

“The passion and commitment on the field from the Argentinian players was truly inspiring. Their style, identity, and club culture were all apparent from the first minute to the last. The players were all very fit, professional, and were there to take care of business in every moment of the game. It was truly a joy to watch from a coach’s standpoint. You learn very quickly that to create such a culture, you have to have a club and staff who are willing to put in the same amount of work, if not more, every single day, and that not one player is bigger than the club.

This trip is something I would highly recommend we do every year as a club for our kids!”

-Shane Recklet, U16 Academy Coach

“The week in Argentina was an amazing soccer learning experience for our players, coaches, as well as the parents that travelled.  The games against Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, and Ferro CO brought our players up to another level of playing and that will accelerate their development moving forward.”

–Brian Quinn, U15 Academy Coach

“Football America and Beachside soccer gave my teammates and I a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Argentina and play some of the best teams in the world. Although we weren’t victorious, both my teammates and I took many lessons and techniques that will improve our game.”

–Finn Callahan, U16s

“This experience was one that I will never forget for the rest of my life. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity and would recommend for Beachside to keep doing these because they are truly fantastic.”

–Connor Lawlor, U15s

“An absolutely phenomenal trip! Futbol America Tours did a tremendous job in terms of organization; competitive matches; training facilities; meals; and sight-seeing. Our boys experienced first-hand what it is like to play high-level South American football. It has made a lasting impression and will hopefully benefit our boys as they play in our US Academy league going forward. My hope is that Beachside will continue to send future teams over to Argentina. It is truly an invaluable experience!”

–Matt Lawlor (U15 Academy Team Manager)

Jon Gallagher: A Beachside Story

No different than many 12-year-old soccer players, Jon Gallagher’s dream was to one day be a professional soccer player. Jon’s dream came true this past weekend as Atlanta United drafted Jon with the #14 overall pick in this year’s MLS Super Draft.

Gallagher

From an early age, it was evident that Jon possessed a true passion for the game of soccer. His enjoyment, love and competitiveness showcased itself every time he stepped onto the field. What Jon was remarkable with, was his willingness to work as hard as he could on and off the field. Jon’s relationship with the ball and Soccer IQ were way beyond his years. Jon had a purpose for every touch, every dribble, and had great anticipation of the next play. The memories we’ll think most of Jon are not the goals he scored, or the accolades he received, but Jon’s coachable mind frame and willingness to set the example for others. Even with his talent level, he was humble, and willing to do whatever the team needed.

Jon’s foundation and commitment to fulfilling his childhood dream have now taken him to the professional game, and we could not be prouder.

Best of luck on your next journey, we all believe in you!

Gallagher and BSC

“Beachside gave me as close as you can get to a professional environment growing up. I learned the importance of being mature and professional in how you carry yourself both on and off the field in order to improve on a daily basis. I was able to use those lessons as a platform to take forward into my college and professional career.”

Beachside Lights the Night

Thank you to all the players and families who helped raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this past weekend. Thanks to so many generous donations, Beachside was able to donate over $11,400 to help children and families in need of a cure to fight this disease.

We would also like to thank the girls from New Canaan Soccer 03/04 Team that raised money for their friend who is struggling with Leukemia. They organized a lemonade and bake sale to coincide with the New Canaan High School homecoming foot traffic and donated the money to our Pre Academy team through the Beiles Family.

After all the donations were totaled, we have 2 winning teams that have won a pizza party at Colony Pizza! We would like to congratulate the U10 Girls team for walking on Saturday night And raising $2,680.00, and the Pre-Academy Boys for raising $2,683.00. The totals were so close and they did an amazing job we wanted both teams to celebrate their hard work.

If anyone would still like to contribute to their team or to Beachside as a Club, the online donations will be open through December of 2017.
