Coach Hugo Alves

Hugo Alves, known as Coach Hugo, brings a deep passion for the game and a player-centered approach to development. Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Hugo was raised in a culture where soccer is more than a sport. It’s a way of life, shaping his style and understanding of the game from an early age.
A former Beachside player, Hugo understands the club’s standards and competitive environment firsthand. He made an immediate impact during his playing career in the United States, earning a varsity spot as a freshman and contributing to an FCAIC championship team that was nationally ranked in the top 25 in 2004. 
Hugo holds a U.S. Soccer National D License, reflecting his commitment to continued education and high-level coaching standards.
With over a decade of coaching experience, Hugo has worked with players across a wide range of age groups and competitive levels. His coaching philosophy centers on technical development, decision-making, and confidence on the ball, while also instilling discipline, creativity, and a strong work ethic.
