Mickey Kydes
Mickey Kydes is the Founder and Director of Coaching at Beachside of Connecticut Soccer Club. Founded in 1994, Beachside has become one of the premier soccer specific organizations in the country. Between Beachside, and Mickey Kydes Soccer–a professional coaching organization established in 1996 that supports travel and recreational soccer for several Connecticut clubs, Mickey is responsible for the soccer development and education of close to five thousand children.
Mickey’s distinguished youth, collegiate and professional playing career has been the cornerstone of his tremendous success. Through his wealth of playing experience, Mickey was exposed to many different coaching philosophies and management styles. As a lifelong student of the game, he constantly took mental notes regarding what systems created success, and which systems bogged down forward momentum.
What Mickey cares most about is the personal development of the thousands of young people
that acquire life skills by participating in his programs. Mickey Kydes is a true Soccer educator, with a sincere and artistic passion for passing on his knowledge to the young people on and off the field. The mixture of his love of the game, with his unmatched work ethic, integrity, attention to detail, ability to organize, lead and educate, has led to the superb national reputation of Beachside of Connecticut Soccer Club
Paul McGlynn
Paul is deeply committed to grassroots to professional development, nurturing talented decision makers across all levels of the game. His influence extends nationally, making him a driving force in shaping the future of soccer development at Beachside.
His passion and experience for the game shines through in his implementation of player centered training methods and the development of comprehensive training programs for players and coaches alike.
Along with his tenure at one of the most storied clubs in BW Gottschee, Paul also has been recently inducted in the Long Island Soccer League Hall of Fame. He has also been coaching professionally within NISA and as a talent ID scout and teaching instructor within US Soccer.

Omar Tork
Omar was a member of the youth and senior Syrian National Team. He has played professional soccer in Brazil (three years) and the United States professional indoor leagues (two years).
Owner of Gooal indoor soccer facility in Stratford, CT, Omar has coached youth soccer since 1995 throughout Fairfield County, and in the MKSE and Beacshide soccer organizations since 1998. Omar’s impact on Beachside Soccer Club has been paramount as his experience and knowledge for identifying and developing talent has been a key to clubs success.
Javier Miraballes
Javier was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and raised in Trumbull, CT, where he was a 4 year HS varsity player (voted team captain his senior year). Javier continued his soccer journey at Merrimack College for two years and finished his college career at Western Conn. State University.
In 1999 Javier began his coaching career back in his hometown with Trumbull United U10 boys travel team. In 2002 he began a long tenure under the Mickey Kydes travel program in Westport. Javier was able to reach the state semis twice and a state championship game on another occasion. In 2006 Javier coached a team in the Local Legends League (which at the time provided college players and recent college grads the opportunity to play at a high level during the summer months) taking over a team that finished last and in one year went on the win the championship.
In 2014 Javier began his Beachside coaching career with a U14 boys’ premier team. Since then, Javier has coached within our MLS Next and Premier programs at all age groups. Javier has also assisted with the men’s soccer program at the Univ of Bridgeport under head coach Pete Doneit. Javier Miraballes currently holds a United States Soccer Federation “C” license.
Pete Doneit
Pete is in his 21st year coaching at Beachside Soccer Club. Over the years, Pete has led his teams to 6 State Cup championships, a Regional Final and a Region I Fair Play Award as well as leading Beachside’s first team to compete in the USYS National League.
In addition, Pete is the Director of Beachside Juniors Developmental Program and is the Director of Goalkeeping for Beachside SC. Outside of Beachside, Pete is the Head Coach for the University of Bridgeport men’s soccer team, and has been working with the University since 2001. From Pete’s efforts, he has helped in the resurgence of the program as one of the top division II teams in the northeast.
Pete Played four years at Division 1 powerhouse Hartwick College and spent two seasons in the U.S.I.S.L with the Grand Rapid Explosion and Lansing Locomotive. He spent time with the Westchester Flames in the USL Pro Select League and also had a brief stint in South Africa.
In 2011 Pete was named USYS National Coach of the year and USYS Region 1 Youth Coach of the Year along with NSCAA East Region Coach of the Year. In addition, Doneit was also named CJSA Young Coach of the Year (2010) and CJSA Coach of the Year (2009).
Pete Doneit is a United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ licensed coach, and also holds a NSCAA level II Goalkeeping license.
Jose Canahui
My name is Jose Canahui. I am the current Norwalk High boys soccer head coach.This will be my 8th year coaching high school soccer. I was an assistant coach for Norwalk high school for about 6 years and in those years I won an FCIAC title in the year 2021. I was also part of two Semi Finalist groups in the state tournament back in 2017 and more recently 2022. The 2022 group also went undefeated for the regular season and made it to both FCIAC and STATE Semi Finals.
During my club career I have coached at CT Rush where I had a good career. I have coached at a great level and won many tournaments and league titles. I have also had the privilege to coach alongside a professional coach for a couple of years and learned many great things.
As a player I was able to win a state title with NJSA back in 2015. I also played Polska for 3 years where I developed greatly and won many trophies, alongside some great players.
I attended Norwalk High school from the year 2011-2015. I was part of a very special group that won an FCIAC title and a State title all in the same year in 2012. I was the only starting sophomore on the team and continued to have a good high school career. I was All FCIAC 1st team both Junior and Senior year. I was All State my senior year. I brought interest from Southern Connecticut State University and continued my soccer career at the school.
I am super excited to work at Beachside, growing up as a player you would hear that this was the best club in the area and it continues to be that way. I am looking forward to working with talented players and a very talented staff and I hope to win many trophies for the club and compete at the highest level possible.
Franco Acuna
Franco Acuna was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to the United States when he was 8 months old. He has lived in Connecticut ever since. Franco began playing at Beachside Soccer Club in 2012 and reached the academy level, coached by Mark Alves, Pete Doneit, Allan Zuniga, and Omar Tork.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven in 2018 and played soccer at the University of New Haven for a year until 2019. Franco then graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2023, becoming the first in his family to earn a college degree. He holds a United States Soccer Federation National “C” coaching license and is looking to progress to further licenses.
This is Franco’s third year coaching in the MKSE Program. Last year, he was an assistant coach for the Beachside U16 and U17 MLS Next teams.
Erick Romero
Erick was born in Honduras and moved to United States in 2005. Beachside soccer club welcomed Erick when he was 16 years old. Carrying forward with Erick’s allocates, Erick was a participating member of the 2011 BCT U17 state championship team, that also competed and earned championship honors at the Disney invitational national tournament. College career, Erick played Division II soccer at the University of Bridgeport where he was a started for 4 years 2012-2016.
In 2017 he was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Bridgeport.
Erick is a United States Soccer Federation ‘F’ licensed coach and has been coaching in the Mickey Kydes Soccer organization since 2011. Erick has been part of the Beachside Juniors program since 2018. In the spring of 2024 he was a Beachside assistant coach for BCT U13 and U14 MLS Next teams.
Mark Alves
Mark has been with Mickey Kydes Soccer since 2004, coaching Westport Soccer Association travel teams, and is entering his 14th season coaching at Beachside. Mark previously coached Danbury Youth Soccer Club premier teams for four seasons. Mark played club soccer for FC Westchester. In High School was All-League as a Sophomore, Junior and Senior. He was All-State as a Junior and Senior and was All-New England as a senior at Henry Abbott High School. Mark went on to play college soccer at Franklin Pierce College (1992) and at Western Connecticut State University (1993-1995). All-Little East Conference 93’94’95 All-New England 94’95’In 2011 Mark led the Beachside boys U-12 team to a State Cup Championship as well as the 2011 USYSA region 1 Championship. Mark Alves has his United States Soccer Federation ‘B’ level license coach.
Edinson Pena
Edinson Pena was born in Honduras, and moved to the United States at the age of 6 years. He was raised in Los Angeles California. In California he played for the Youths of Chivas USA from the age of U11. He also played for Dominguez High School for 3 years. In 2014 he moved to Connecticut and played his senior year for Brian McMahon High School and played for Beachside Academy, coached by Brian Quinn and Omar Tork.
Edinson began coaching in 2016 with Omar Soccer Academy. He coached the Connecticut Pythons for three years. He has been coaching for Mickey Kydes Soccer programs for four years and last year he coached the Beachside North 2013 team. He holds a United Soccer Federation National “D” license and wants to further his license.
Jake Zuniga
Jake was born and raised in Norwalk, CT, where he spent his life around soccer. Jake is the son of Beachside Soccer Club coach Allan Zuniga.
Jake is a 2023 Beachside Soccer Club Hall of Fame inductee, where he was honored for his career at Beachside which spanned from 2003 to 2014. As a player, Jake won state championships and reached regional semifinals as a youth player. He also captained the Beachside Super 20 team to nationals, where they achieved a 3rd place finish in his final season. During his time with Beachside, Jake also played high school soccer at Norwalk High School, where he was a four-year varsity player. Jake became a captain at NHS and was awarded first team All-Conference and All-State as a player. Jakes four years at NHS is recognized as one of the most successful periods in the school’s history.
Following his youth career, Jake played four years for Division 1 Fairfield University, playing as a central midfielder. Jake won a Conference Title in his freshman season and scored in the NCAA tournament. He also reached the conference final during his senior season. During Jake’s collegiate career, he was called up to the Nicaraguan National team on 3 occasions, joining the senior national team camp twice.
Jake began coaching for within the MKSE organization in 2014. Jake is recognized as one of our area’s top youth coaches for his passion for the game and focus on player development. Jake’s excellent demeanor with his players while creating a challenging, education and enjoyable environment for his players makes him a perfect fit within Beachside. Over the years, Jake has been involved coaching and assisting in every age group in Beachside. Jake is looking forward to joining our MLS Next Staff for Beachside Soccer Club as a full-time coach while making an impact on the players and club, which has made such a positive impact on his life.
Allan Zuniga
Allan played college soccer at Sacred Heart University where he was named All-American. Played in the USISL from 1991 to 1995 and then went on to play professional soccer in Nicaragua for 1st division team Walter Ferreti Club. Allan has coached Youth level throughout Fairfield County for the last 20 years and has coached in the Mickey Kydes Soccer organization since 1999, including being the Program Director for the WSA Recreation and travel soccer from 2002-2017.
Traveled with Club Technical Director Mickey Kydes to FC Barcelona (La masia), Spain in 2011. Allan also assisted the U17 Nicaragua National team and helped the youth program over the summer of 2010-2013.
Coaching at Beachside Soccer Club and Beachside Academy for the past 14 years, winning three state cups one Northeast Regional.
Allan Zuniga is a United States Soccer Federation ‘B’ level licensed coach.
Javon Stewart
Coach Javon’s passion for the game of soccer started at a very young age. Many of his relatives gained opportunities playing professionally in Costa Rica, which fueled his love for the game. Javon grew up locally, in Trumbull CT, where he played at the premier level. Javon transitioned to Trumbull High School and was a part of the 07′ FCIAC Championship team.
Javon knew he would always want to stay involved in soccer and began coaching and gaining experience in New Haven County and Fairfield Country soccer programs. Javon has been coaching since 2013 and is recognized are one of the area’s top youth coaches. Javon has been an instrumental part of developing our younger U9-U12 North Players, which many have transitioned into our Beachside MLS Next and National Academy Teams. Javon currently holds his Grassroots level licenses, and his Beachside Developmental Coaches Plan has him completing his USSF D License in 2023.
Jemay Arias
Jemay was voted Most Valuable high school player in New York City and is considered one of the top players to come out of NYC. Played four years at highly ranked Division 1 Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey. Was FDU’s Team Captain Senior Year. B.S Finance 1987 / and inducted in to FDU Hall of Fame. Played international tournaments at Lake Cuomo Italy, Zurich Switzerland, Helsinki Finland, Gothenburg Sweden, and also played in Colombia Copa Ciudad de Pereira.
Coached at Tab Ramos and Staten Island Soccer programs and summer camps. Won the CT State Championship with Westport Soccer Association’s U11 Boys Blue team in the Fall 2018.Holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘C’ coaching license and has been coaching in the Mickey Kydes Soccer organization since 2012. Jemay is every excited to join the Beachside program.
Guido Glorioso
Guido was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He played semi-pro soccer in his country until age 17 when he decided to start Law School. After finishing Law School in 2020, Guido moved to Montreat, North Carolina, to continue his studies, earning a walk-on scholarship for the Montreat Men’s soccer team (NAIA). He became team captain and played 2 seasons for Montreat College until his graduation.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in communication studies, Guido moved to South Carolina and began coaching at Carolina FC. He coached the U12 Boys Elite and U8 Boys Open League teams during the Spring and Fall of 2023 and the Spring of 2024. During his coaching duties at Carolina FC, Guido earned his grassroots license at the US Soccer Federation.
Guido moved to Stamford, CT in the summer of 2024 while completing his MBA master’s program at the University of the Cumberlands. Besides his academic endeavors, Guido is willing to stay involved with the sport he loves and has played ever since he was a kid. He wants to keep improving his coaching and leadership skills at Beachside CT, helping the players learn and play the game passionately.
Jason Marika
Jason started his soccer career locally within Connecticut before moving abroad to complete his bachelors and master’s degree in England. There he played, studied and coached in different levels of the English football pyramid.
With a few stops in Europe along the way, Jason came back stateside where he completed USSF accredited licensing alongside being involved with grassroots through to professional level clubs as a coach and analyst. Currently Jason is undertaking a doctorate degree and is involved with several organizations looking to enhance individual player development.

Marcos Soto
Coach Marcos Soto was born in Mendoza, Argentina, and is a dedicated soccer coach with extensive experience in youth soccer, holding the UEFA B License and the USSF B License.
Coach Marcos last served as an assistant coach for the New York Soccer Club’s MLS Next team and as the head coach for the G13 Pre Academy. With a coaching career spanning over a decade and a half, he has held various positions, including Assistant Coach at Manhattanville College, and Lead Coordinator of the Development Program at Harrison Youth Soccer Program.
Coach Marcos has been the Head Coach for multiple age groups at Harrison Youth Soccer, leading his teams to play two state cup finals and contributing significantly to the USYS National League. His commitment to developing young talent is further exemplified through roles such as Assistant Coach at Yeshiva University and Head Coach at FC Westchester and White Plains Youth Soccer.
Marcos is passionate and dedicated about empowering young athletes to be the best they can be on and off the field.
